When people make poor financial decision it’s not only their financial future they’re putting at risk but also their health, livelihood, and quality of life they put at risk as well. It’s important to know where your hard earned money is going and if your finance and investing strategies don’t make sense then it’s probably not a good strategy at all.

My investment strategy is a top-down approach looking at big picture fundamentals before narrowing in on individual stocks, index funds and ETFs. I really like the idea of the Couch Potato Portfolio investing in several index funds making it easy for anyone to setup and manage an investment portfolio. Index funds allow buyers to keep fees low while diversifying and minimizing risk.

Ultimately the only one thing that determines share prices are the number of buyers and number of sellers in a market. Knowing this I try to play the odds, buy what people are buying in an uptrend market and short what people are selling in a downtrend market. It doesn’t matter if the markets are going up or going down as long as you know where to place your bets so the odds are in your favor.
